One area where homeopathy should be given acknowledgement and recognition by the government in general and the medical profession in particular relates to the diseases of the kidneys. Homeopathy can help avoid surgeries and other mechanical methods of treatment. Even in advanced cases of renal insufficiency, homeopathy can help reduce the frequency of dialysis.
Resort to surgery and other mechanical methods in treating kidney problems is quite common in Pakistan. This is not to deny the importance of surgery and other methods such as URS, PNCL, ESWL, etc., but such practices should be resorted to only when extremely necessary. Invasive methods, no matter how minimal, should be avoided as far as possible. Homeopathy has effective medicines for conditions ranging from kidney stones to renal insufficiency.
Here are some cases ranging from stones in the kidney to CKD to post renal transplantation problems. Most cases, particularly of kidney stones were cured, many were helped beneficially, and some did not benefit.

Lessons from a case-history of a patient of kidney-stone
Mrs. ZY 36 years October 29, 2015
The patient, initially, had visited three months or so back. She had a large calculus (stone) in the right kidney and was advised to undergo surgery without wasting time – so finally underwent surgery in Kidney Centre, Karachi, on September 09, 2015.
History:
Had renal pain some 15 years back. Used homoeopathic combination R-27 of Dr. Reckeweg & Company, Germany. It removed the pain but the disease kept on growing insidiously. Later, some tests were done and it transpired that she had a stone. Two lithotripsy sessions and three attempts through URS to remove the stone did not yield any result.
Presenting:
Post surgery report dated 30-09-2015 shows a simple cyst at upper and mid pole of left kidney, measuring 2.1 x 1.6 cm
Pain right lumbar – nausea with the pain
Low haemoglobin levels
Urine DR dated 27-10-2015 shows presence of Protein 6, Glucose 28++, Urobilinogen 3.2, Haemoglobin moderate++, Leucocytes Esterase small+, Bacteria few
Serum urea and Creatinine levels were highly raised.
The stone has been removed but the damage it has caused may not be reversible. The raised levels of urea and creatinine in the blood and presence of protein, glucose, etc., in the urine point to the irreversible damage caused to the kidneys.
Lesson: Pain in kidneys should not be neglected. It should not be self-treated. There is a general assumption that homoeopathic medicines do not have side effects. That is not correct. Homoeopathic medicines if taken inappropriately and without professional advice can have side effects. Besides, self-medication delays recourse to proper treatment and causes damage to the health.

Pain right lumbar for three years on and off – doctors prescribe pain killers whenever he visits them
But the latest episode was severe and was taken to a doctor who prescribed drips and pain killers.
U/s datd 18-10-2015 shows multiple concretions of variable size
Pain both lumbars, worse right, drawing/pressing/squeezing comes forward
Prevents sleep
Restless sleep, changes sides frequently, with open eyes
Occasionally urinary burning
Kidney disease runs in the family. His Dada underwent kidney transplant at the age of 55 years
Result: Homeopathy helped as after a year the patient visited for some other problem
